Hello! I will be updating this section as more questions are forwarded to me! Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns!
Can we buy our own recorder/Use a recorder we already have?
Of course! I do ask that you bring it in before we begin playing to ensure that it has the same finger positions as the recorders I teach in 4th grade. If you purchased it for a past Yorkville student, the recorder will work perfectly!
Can we purchase two?
Yes! I suggest that this might be an option for some of the students who may forget their recorder at home. You may order two recorders, one for home and one for school! This will ensure that your student has their recorder during music class!
When will we receive our Recorders?
Student will be asked to place their order for a recorder on or before February 17th. Students will receive their recorder on the first day of fourth quarter, March 14th.
How will my student know their recorder vs. another student's recorder?
All recorders and cases purchased from the school will be labeled with the student's initials.
What does a _____________ Color Recorder look like?
We have had some students ask what each color recorder looks like. I have attached a picture below! (From left to right: Orange, Lime Green, Purple, Blue, Brown, Red, Ivory, Pink)
Dear 4th Grade Families,
As a part of the music curriculum, your 4th grader will be learning to play the soprano recorder in music class. We will begin the recorder unit fourth quarter, March 14th. We will be ordering soprano recorders that come with a storage case, cleaning rod, cleaning cloth, and finger chart. The price for each recorder package is $4.00. Students, who do not wish to purchase their own recorder, may borrow a cleaned classroom recorder. Borrowed recorders will not leave the music room.
We will be doing a program called “Recorder Karate”. Students will start at the beginner level (white belt) and work their way to the advanced level (black belt). Because of this, it is important that they practice their recorders at home. Your child is responsible for bringing their recorder each time they have music class. The recorder unit is a part of their music grade. Students may order more than one recorder if you choose; one to keep at school and one to keep at home. Students will also need to have a music folder or binder to put their recorder music in.
To help us place the order, please return the order form with cash or a check made payable to Yorkville Intermediate School by Friday, February 17th.
